MEDITATION Classes

First Saturday each month 2 – 4 p.m.
Cost $30

It is said that if you can conquer your own mind, you can conquer the world. In our culture the emphasis of our education is how to perform for the world outside us. Little if any of our education teaches about our inner world. Yet our mind is our most powerful tool. This class will expose you to a variety of techniques that train the mind to support your life’s purpose. Without proper training the mind can create doubt, worry, anger, guilt and a host of other negative thoughts and images that become self-defeating. Through meditation we learn to create a dialogue with the mind that allows us to sort through our thoughts and know which thoughts are worthy of our attention and which thoughts are distortions of the truth, fantasy, or unproductive. It is a powerful technique for quieting the mind and accessing our ability to self-heal.

Led by Dr. Kari Rollins, this class includes simple movements and breathing exercises that help us let go of tension, a variety of meditations that strengthen the mind, short lectures, and discussion. First time students receive a handout that is a guideline for the class and includes simple meditations to start a personal practice. In as short a time as 3 minutes you can start the powerful practice of meditation. The recommended text for this class is “The Mind” by Yogi Bhajan and is available at The Wellness Center.
