Dr. Kari Rollins
Dr.
Kari Rollins is a dedicated physician and healer. She began practicing
yoga at the age of 10 and became a vegetarian at the age of 17. She pursued
a career in medicine, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude from
Kansas State University and Cum Laude from the University of North Texas
Health Science Center. Following her internship, her interest in preventive
medicine led her back to the University of North Texas Health Science
Center where she researched, developed, and taught programs in preventive
medicine and wellness to medical students. Her desire to make such programs
available to the general public inspired her to found The Wellness Center
in 1986. Over the past 20 years Dr. Rollins has developed the staff and
services of The Wellness Center to provide a comprehensive approach to
the treatment of illness and promotion of health.
As medical director of The Wellness Center, Dr. Rollins divides her
practice into two areas:
-
Treating individuals with health problems
through the integration of many different traditons of healing both
ancient and modern.
 Dr.
Rollins has a unique clinical practice. She takes time to listen to
patients, respects their beliefs, values and their insight into their
own health problems. She recognizes there are often multiple causes
for an illness and there are likewise many ways to heal. Her treatment
focuses not just on the treatment of symptoms, but in finding and
addressing the root of the problem. She has studied two of the oldest
traditions in medicine; traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurvedic
medicine. Her background in yoga and osteopathic medicine give her
special skills to treat back and joint pain. She teaches her patients
how to use proper breathing techniques to reduce
stress on the cardiovascular and nervous system. She has researched
cutting edge technology to find appropriate testing for illnesses
that are sometimes difficult to diagnose and treat, such as digestive
, immune, hormonal, genetic, and detoxification testing as well as
dark field microscopy. Incorporating her knowledge of nutritional
and herbal medicine, Dr. Rollins can address all health problms with
a truely integrated approach.
-
Teaching health promotion through self-healing
traditions such as yoga, breathing, and meditation.
 Dr.
Rollins believes health education is the key to preventing illness.
Gifted as a teacher, she has developed educational tools that promote
a healthy lifestyle. In addition to the many classes offered at The
Wellness Center she has written a text, "The Wellness Center
Workbook", produced a relaxation CD, a yoga video, "Beginning
Yoga: A Physician's Approach", and a cooking video entitled "The
Peasant's Diet: Beans and Grains". She is a captivating and popular
speaker on a variety of topics including stress reduction, women's
health, cardiac rehab, diet and weight management, yoga, and wellness.
Dr. Rollins practices what she teaches. She understands the simple
yet profound changes that prevent illness and promote health in a
cost-effective way.
